2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe Price Has Risen

The 2011 BMW 1 Series M Coupe,  a few followers and owners of BMWs pointed out that  our estimated price for a used donor car, set at $50,000, was low, the car retailed for les at $46,135 when it was new in 2011, with only 740 units sold in the U.S, finding data on 1 M Coupe  sales is a bit difficult, but here's what we know. With about 20 cars currently on sale, through major used auto sales websites, with an  asking price of a whopping $61,670 and average mileage of about 11,600 on the clock, which is about  more than $15,500 over the MSRP when new, or an appreciation of around $5,000 a year.

The best deal around had 14,000 miles on the clock and was going for $55,500, with the most expensive being $65,991 with only 8,800 miles and the numbers are about right based on the industry standard Black Book, which calls the retail value in California, for instance, at an even $60,000 for an "Extra Clean" car, who would’ve thought the 1 Series M Coupe would be a good investment?!

It  sold only a few 100 of them before being discontinued, due to bad sales, it’s believed that a number of these are still installed on cars in South Africa, though the carjacking problem, isn’t nearly as bad as it once was.

M235i Racing Goes With BMW Vision GT Virtual Extremes (Video)

During last year, the Mercedes AMG division worked up a concept car called the Vision Gran Turismo, then it presented it at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show, but that wasn't the point, the point was that it would feature in Gran Turismo 6 on the PlayStation 3 and it wasn't the first concept created specifically for the popular driving simulator game, following similar projects by Citroën and the Red Bull Racing team, and it wouldn't be the last.

It looks like an even more extreme version of the M235i Racing, the BMW Vision Gran Turismo concept is built on the tradition of the successful BMW touring cars of the1970s in an adrenaline pumping, even if it is strictly a virtual form. With more extreme aerodynamics than the M235i Racing and a striking take on the M division's signature’s light blue, with dark blue and red stripe over white livery.

The digital bonnet has underneath  the same 3.0L inline 6, as the M235i, but pumps out a theoretical 549hp, which is far more than the 333hp in the actual Racing version or the 320hp in the road going model. BMW also gave it an ideal 50/50 front/rear weight distribution and a curb weight of 2,600 lbs and that is nearly a 1000 pounds less than the road going M235i model, also visitors are invited to take a virtual spin at BMW Welt, after which it will presumably  find its way on your PlayStation 3, most importantly don't count on a production version to pull up in your driveway anytime soon.

In 1989 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, BMW was showcased the all-new and impressive 8-Series coupe. These days, the German model is celebrating the 25th anniversary and this is why, the Bavarian officials are taking a look back at their iconic coupe.

"The BMW 8-Series was designed to challenge to the world’s finest sports coupes with a design oozing avant-garde elegance, arresting performance attributes, an exceptional wealth of innovations and a sprinkling of exclusive luxury", is said in the official statement.

When the German model was launched, it features a 5.0 liter V12 engine rated at 300 horsepower and 450 Nm peak of torque. The 8-Series had 1.790 kilograms and the sprint from stand still to 100 km/h was done in 6.8 seconds.

In 1993, BMW introduced two new versions of the 8-Series. We are talking about the 840 Ci which had a 4.0 liter V8 engine with 286 horsepower and about the 850 CSi which had a 5.6 liter V12 unit rated at 381 horsepower and 550 Nm peak of torque.

Happy birthday, BMW 8-Series! We wish you a wealthy comeback!
