The 2011 1 Series M Coupe isn’t the only BMW enthusiast coupe to enjoy above average residual values, the 2004 M3 CSL, itself is a single year offering and it also fits that description, as we've just learned from Auto Express.
M3 CSL ruled overseas BMW showrooms around a decade ago, with 1,400 units built, which is based on the E46 M3, this rare 2 door was relieved of extraneous bits for improved track work and driver fidelity, with around 240 fewer pounds than a standard BMW M3, with its carbon fiber reinforced plastic bodywork and thinner glass and a lot less sound insulation, the CSL was one of the beasts of its day, just Like the BMW 1M Coupe, it was also one of the more connected cars of the era, it had a retuned suspension and quicker steering, and a bit more power.
A good used one commands about the same money as a brand new 2014 M235i, the closest thing BMW makes to a 1M Coupe today, and that’s what makes this video track battle an interesting new versus used showdown and according to Auto Express, a well sorted used M3 CSL will run British consumers anywhere between (£30,000 - £35,000) which is roughly ($50,000 - $59,000). Today's M235i continues to carry the torch for BMW’s driving enjoyment, with a 3.0L straight 6 giving it its 320hp and 330 lb-ft of torque to its rear wheels, it means it's got less power and more torque than the CSL, but it's also got slightly more weight.
